case-study
Write compelling customer success stories using story arc framework (Before → Decision → After). Leads with results, includes metrics and quotes
Customer Case Study Writing
Write compelling case studies that sell by showcasing customer transformations.
Process
Step 1: Gather Information
From customer:
- Company name, industry, size
- Challenge they faced (before state)
- Why they chose you (decision)
- How they use the product
- Results achieved (after state)
- Specific metrics
- Direct quotes
Permission level:
- Full name + company?
- Anonymous?
- Logo usage OK?
Step 2: Extract the Story Arc
Before: What was broken? Decision: Why choose you? After: What changed?
Find the transformation moment — the "aha" that made it click.
Step 3: Identify Most Compelling Metric
- % improvement
- Time saved
- Revenue gained
- Cost reduced
Lead with the strongest number.
Step 4: Structure the Case Study
Headline: [Result-focused with metric] Example: "How Acme Reduced Status Meetings by 70%"
Quick Stats Box:
| Metric | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| [Metric] | [X] | [Y] |
The Challenge: [What they struggled with]
Why [Product]: [Decision factors]
The Solution: [How they use it — specific, not generic]
The Results: [Detailed outcomes with quotes]
Key Takeaway: [One-sentence for similar prospects]
Step 5: Add Compelling Quote
"[Specific, results-oriented quote]"
— [Name, Title, Company]
Bad quote: "We love the product!" Good quote: "We went from 5 hours/week on status updates to zero."

Good case study must:
- Lead with result (not company description)
- Include at least one specific metric
- Have direct customer quote(s)
- Show before/after transformation
- Be specific about how they use the product
- End with relevance to reader ("If you're also...")
Common mistakes:
- Starting with "About [Company]" (boring!)
- No metrics (vague "improved productivity")
- Generic usage description
- No quotes or weak quotes ("Great product!")
- Not making it relatable to readers
